Mike Hibbs selected as PPC for Basildon  & Billericay

At the hustings held at the Readings Rooms, Billericay on 15th October 2009, Mike Hibbs was voted in (by local members of the party) as Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the new Basildon & Billericay constituency.

Mike, who fought the Billericay seat at the last election, said, ‘I’m looking forward to the challenge. Basildon and Billericay deserve an alternative to a discredited Labour Government and a Conservative party that seems increasingly out of touch with the ordinary voter.’

Mike Hibbs was the Liberal Democrat candidate for Billericay at the last election, winning over 13% of the vote. A past Chairman of Uttlesford District Council in North West Essex, Mike is an Architect. Mike is concerned that the recent expenses scandal has discredited politics. He wants to see a closer relationship between politicians and the electorate, and believes that the Liberal Democrats are the only party to respect the real concerns of the people of Basildon and Billericay.

Already, Mike has been active meeting fellow Liberal Democrats:
